Teaching Video NeuroImages: Re-emergent jaw tremor in Parkinson disease.

چکیده
A 77-year-old woman who was diagnosed with Parkinson disease at 51 years of age presented with a 4-year history of intermittent jaw tremor. This was present at rest and declined in amplitude during voluntary movements. Tremor reappeared after the patient bit a tongue depressor continuously for 10 seconds (video on the Neurology® Web site at Neurology.org). “Re-emergent tremor” is a postural hand tremor that appears after some delay while maintaining a posture and is similar to the classic resting tremor of Parkinson disease. Re-emergent jaw tremor may represent an additional type of tremor characteristic of Parkinson disease.

The patient had a 2-year history of parkinsonism followed by dementia and was treated with 300 mg of levodopa/decarboxylase inhibitor. The patient previously had a significant response of motor symptoms including rest and re-emergent tre...
متن کاملRe-Emergent Tremor of Parkinson’s Disease Masquerading as Essential Tremor
BACKGROUND The re-emergent tremor of Parkinson's disease (PD) is generally recognized as a postural tremor. PHENOMENOLOGY SHOWN A PD patient with a re-emergent tremor occurring during a task (spiral drawing), which on the surface produced a tremor that resembled that of essential tremor (ET). EDUCATIONAL VALUE Researchers and clinicians should be aware of features of this re-emergent tremor...

A 67-year-old man presented with a several-year history of progressive gait ataxia, dysarthria, and a 2-Hz palatal tremor (video on theNeurology®Web site at Neurology. org). He did not have corticospinal tract signs. Cranial MRI revealed hypertrophic olivary degeneration on T2-weighted images (figure). Genetic testing revealed a transition C . T, nucleotide position 235, codon 79, resulting in ...
متن کاملClinical Differentiation of Essential Tremor and Parkinson’s Disease
We present clinical features and tremor characterization in a patient with Parkinson's disease (PD) as well as in two cases of essential tremor (ET) with some parkinsonian features but no evidence of dopaminergic terminal loss on (123)I-FP-CIT Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). Relatively slow frequency rest tremor and bilateral upper extremity bradykinesia without decrementing...
